Do you want to get up close and personal with the beautiful big cats of Dartmoor Zoo? This fantastic experience lets you and a lucky friend or partner get a unique insight into the life of a keeper and get close to some of nature's most intimidating predators.
Not for the faint hearted, your jam-packed day will involve interaction with five different species including lions, tigers and jaguars. Your day will entail every aspect of the animal care beginning with an induction and safety briefing, you will then undertake food preparation, feeding, helping out with daily events and working with the animals. If that’s not enough, you will also see some other fearsome carnivores like the bears or wolves as you work alongside the passionate and enthusiastic zoo keepers and discover what it takes to look after these amazing creatures. Become a keeper for the day and enjoy the excitement of getting to know the animals with the largest variety of big cats in the south west. You will also enjoy lunch in the Jaguar Restaurant with wonderful views over the enclosures. This experience is not for the meek, but it will be one you will never forget.

What happens on the day?
On arrival at 08.00 you will be greeted by a friendly member of staff and offered refreshments in the Jaguar Restaurant as you go over your induction and safety briefing. Then you will spend two hours involved with the lions, tigers and jaguars, getting up close and learning how they are cared for by the keepers. Then there will be a break before you spend time with the bears and wolves and then prepare dinner for the big cats.
Following your break for lunch it's time to feed the cats. You will finish at around 15.00 having spent an exciting day with keepers, getting an insight into every aspect of the care they give to the cats.
Your voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issue
- Minimum age: 18 (Proof of age may be required)
- The experience is not recommended for anyone who is pregnant, has a high blood pressure, or is of a nervous disposition

Your voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issue, kindly note that you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date as vouchers may not be extended beyond their expiration date.
The experience is available seven days a week.
We recommend you book at least three months in advance to ensure that dates are available. Demand is high and places are strictly limited, so you're advised to book well in advance to avoid disappointment.All bookings are subject to availability.
Please allow 6 hours for the whole experience. The time spent actually participating is approximately five hours.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
