Beautiful and peaceful place
This hotel oozes charm and character. A great mix of old world charm and contemporary features makes this hotel quite unique. Don't come here if you're going to complain about flaky paint, or cracks in the walls. It's an ancient castle, what do you expect? We enjoyed our experience immensely and would recommend it as a location for anyone wanting somewhere 'different' to stay.
A disappointing venue. Tired, shabby and mediocre service. The food at Bertie’s restaurant was excellent! Everywhere you look there is paint peeling wires where they shouldn’t be and generally run down. Beds comfortable and rooms clean. Big queues for check in. It’s such a pity. Great potential but doesn’t hit the mark for its 4 star rating!
Nice to be welcomed by the peacocks on arrival.
Room very outdated mainly the bathroom needs refurb.
The hotel itself is tired and could do with updating.
Our bed was uncomfortable unless you like the springs digging in your back.
Our restaurant manager was a bit rude with accommodating us,claiming it to be full up when it was only 1/4 full.
Stayed at Ruthin Castle on a Saturday night with my pregnant wife hoping for a relaxing night. Room very basic, no entertainment at all in the hotel (there was a library bar which literally was a library!
Went into the town not far for something to eat, every restaurant (the 2 we found!) said needed a reservation. Went back the hotel and they didn't have anything until 9pm! (wife is pregnant) so had to get a takeaway. Very disappointed but can now see why there's so many offers on.
