Add to Basket
Immerse yourselves in 16th Century Stratford-upon-Avon and discover where the world’s greatest playwright was educated and inspired, with a Visit to Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall for Two.
You’ll explore the very room in which Shakespeare was a pupil in the 1570s, learning about the subjects he would have studied and even brushing up your Latin with a Tudor lesson from Master Thomas Jenkins. In the heart of the historic town, you’ll also explore one of the few remaining Medieval Guildhalls in the country, where you’ll be led through centuries of fascinating history by welcoming and knowledgeable guides. Whether a lifelong Shakespeare enthusiast or new to his enduring legacy, this engaging experience illuminates the Bard in a whole new light.

What happens on the day?
You’ll be welcomed and settled into the Counting House to be shown a short introductory film about Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall presented by Historian and Broadcaster, Michal Wood. Michael describes the building as “One of the most atmospheric, magical and important buildings in the whole of Britain…it is nothing but a memory room for the town and nation.” You’ll start exploring one of Stratford’s oldest buildings hearing about the magnificent medieval wall paintings, one of which was only discovered during the renovation work in 2016. Your Tudor lesson from Master Thomas Jenkins will follow upstairs in Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and then there will be time to experience the Georgian Classroom with some Tudor games. Guides will be on hand throughout the whole visit.
